Annual Ute-Ladies Tresses Count

Our beautiful little orchids are back, and we need to go count them!

We started our annual orchid count off right with over 50 finds on the preliminary scouting trip July 28th. We hope to find many more this year, and we need your help. We walk the property with volunteers and place flags near the threatened species.

Keeping regular numbers on hand of this population will be critical when this species is eventually evalated for de-listing off of the threatened species list.

Volunteer!

We will meet:

Caffe Ibis parking lot, North East of Church & Federal

6:30 pm on Thursdays through August 25th, at least.

We will leave at 6:40 in order to arrive in Mendon by 7. We will likely stay an hour to an hour and a half (many hands make light work).

Look for me (Trevor Irish, picture below) as Bryan Dixon will be headed out earlier to get ready for volunteers.

Bring:

Water & a snack if you wish

Full length clothing or bug spray

Boots or shoes that can get wet, sometimes the meadow is a bit soggy.

If you wish to meet us at the property at 7 instead, the address is 2000 S 5400 W Mendon, UT.

Let us know when you would like to join us, and feel free to contact us anytime if you have questions. The peak of blooming season will likely be in 2-3 weeks, and we will continue marking the orchids until we no longer find any new blooms.
